Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards Local History Group was founded in 1963 with the purpose of stimulating interest in the history of the four villages and their outlying hamlets, which together make up the ‘Hilltop Villages’.
From the earliest days, the Local History Group has organised an annual programme of monthly talks. The focus of these talks is frequently on the people, places and events of the Chilterns and Buckinghamshire as a whole. However, there has always been room in the programme to accommodate interesting accounts on topics of national historic importance. Our speakers are sometimes renowned experts in their field and sometimes enthusiastic local historians. Either way, the intention is to provide members and visitors to our meetings with well-presented and entertaining talks.
Meetings of the Local History Group take place at St Leonards Parish Hall and Cholesbury Village Hall, normally on the first Friday evening of each month from October to May. The current programme of talks, past newsletters and other interesting articles can be found on the Local History Group web page at www.cholesbury.com.
